This new seltzer is available at bars and grocery stores around town.

There’s a plethora of canned cocktails and beverages on the market and honestly, we can’t keep them all straight. But a new one has come to our attention. Bars and grocery stores throughout Nashville recently began offering Crescent 9 THC Seltzer – a new cannabis beverage. They sent us some to try, so we gave it a go.

According to the company, it’s “infused with THC, CBD, and a splash of caffeine, providing uplifting, euphoric effects perfect for a night out on the town or unwinding at home.” We tried it at home on a particularly hot, humid day. Poured over ice with a sprig of mint from our garden, it was indeed, refreshing, bubbly and not too sweet.  Not having that much experience with cannabis drinks, we weren’t too sure what to expect. But within minutes it did provide a euphoric effect, and that was just half the can.

Subtly sweet, it’s flavored with a blend of mango and tropical fruit juices and purees and wasn’t cloying or artificial tasting. It’s also low-calorie, for those watching their weight.

How does it work?

The world of legal THC and CBD can be confusing, so here’s the lowdown on Crescent 9. Even though it contains a sizable dose of Delta-9 THC, the cannabinoid responsible for marijuana’s psychoactive effects, it’s federally legal. With hemp-derived cannabinoids and less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC by weight, it abides by all federal and Tennessee regulations. With 6 mg of THC in each can, individuals with low tolerances will feel a notable buzz from one can, while those with higher tolerances may need a couple.

How does it compare to other edibles?

Because it’s a THC drink, the effects hit quickly, within 15-30 minutes, so you have more control over the level of psychoactive effects you’re experiencing than with a traditional edible. With fast-acting effects, that last a couple of hours, it functions as an excellent alternative, with its timeline of effects mirroring that of alcohol. The best part? You won’t wake up with a hangover.

It’s a nice switch from white wine or beer and we'll definitely be adding it to our drink rotation at night.

Crescent 9 THC Seltzers are available for adults over the age of 21 at a growing list of Nashville bars and stores including Exit/In, Sinkers, Clara Jane Hemp Dispensary, Basement East, Vinyl Tap, Hops & Crafts, and Remede Cannabis Lounge.
